International Womens Day Activities

posted in: News | 0

International Women’s Day is a worldwide event every 8th March celebrating women’s achievements. It’s a public holiday in over 20 countries!

The original aim – to achieve full gender equality – has still not been realised. It could still take another 100 years before the gap between men and women disappears entirely. This year is extra special as it marks the 100 year anniversary of when (some) women were allowed to vote.

With a host of events taking place around the country, including talks, workshops and film screenings, there many things you can do to mark the occasion. If you’d like some inspiration for running your own activities with girls and young women, we’ve come up with an International Women’s Day themed programme. Resources for these activities and more can be found on our brand spanking new Activity Finder.

Don’t forget to let us know what you get up to by sharing your stories and photos and tag us on Facebook and you could be in with a chance to win one of our great prizes – good luck!
