Represent GFS in South Africa

posted in: News | 0

Applications are now open for two young women aged 16-25 to represent England or Wales at GFS World Council 2020. GFS will be sending two junior delegates; one representing England and one representing Wales. The delegates will have their accommodation and travel to South Africa paid for.

Role of GFS World Council junior delegate

  • To represent the society’s views as a whole, rather than their own personal view.
  • To attend all sessions of the World Council including worship, activities, business and junior delegate meetings.
  • To keep a diary whilst at World Council, in order to share with others their experiences upon return.
  • To give a presentation at the GFS Annual General Meeting following World Council.

This is a Christian gathering and all those attending, while not necessarily needing to have faith, will have to be mindful and respectful of this, and be prepared to participate in any associated activities

Selection process for junior delegates

Step 1 – Application form

If you are interested in applying to be a junior delegate, first read our information pack carefully to make sure you fully understand the criteria for selection and what will happen if you are chosen as a delegate. You can also request a printed version of the pack by emailing info@girlsfriendlysociety.org.uk.

Then, get started on your application! You must return your application form to info@girlsfriendlysociety.org.uk by 22 September 2019.

You will be informed whether or not your application has been shortlisted on 27 September.

Please note that all delegates must hold full GFS membership. You can purchase yours for £20 or £2 per month, here.

Step 2 – Selection day

If your application has been shortlisted, you will be invited to attend a selection day on 12 October in Birmingham.  On this day, applicants will be tested against the criteria as outlined in the information pack. The selection day is designed to choose who will represent both countries.  By the end of the day, two delegates will be selected to represent England and Wales.
