Fundraising together as a team is a great way to build community and create a buzz around your office. Post-COVID, and with working from home here to stay, organisations are looking for ways to help their staff bond and build those deeper connections that make for a happy place to work. Getting stuck into an activity that is for a good cause is a great, inclusive alternative.

If you are interested in fundraising in the workplace, it could be a good idea to associate it with an important occasion – maybe an important date for your workplace, or an awareness day. Our key dates are:

  • Children’s Mental Health Week – February
  • International Women’s Day – 8 March
  • International Day of the Girl – 11 October

Take a look at some of the ways you can fundraise at work.

Sponsored Challenges

Activities and exercise are key to wellbeing among young people and all GFS groups encourage movement and play to keep our girls happy and healthy.

Why not challenge your staff to a team challenge such as a virtual cycle ride, an ultra-challenge or one of the many fun run events organised across the country. We can support with setting up a Just Giving page, fundraising tips and how to advertise your challenge to friends and family.

Gender Networks

Does your organisation have a gender network or women’s group? If these networks run ticketed events, why not consider donating the profits to GFS or use these events as a fundraiser.

We’d also be really happy to come in and talk about the work GFS does!

Fundraising socials

Fundraising doesn’t have to be all Marathons and assault courses! Holding a fundraising event in the office or over Zoom can be a really fun way to bring your team together for a good cause. Why not ask everyone to bring in a packed lunch one day and donate the money saved to GFS? Or host a quiz night or a Bake Off competition – anything goes!

Charity of the Year

Does your organisation run a charity of the year scheme? If so, why not consider nominating GFS for your charity of the year. We can provide you with lots of tips and resources throughout the year to help with your fundraising efforts.

Payroll Giving

Does your employer run a payroll giving scheme? If so, why not donate to GFS through the scheme. It is a tax-free way to donate to GFS and will provide vital support to our work.

Match funding

Many organisations offer match funding – this is where your employer will agree to donate the total of what you have raised. It’s always a good idea to ask your organisation if this is something they offer, or would consider offering. You can double the impact of your fundraising without doubling your efforts!
