This spring, we’re pleased to be in the spotlight, thanks to Childrensalon and Claire Ptak.
In her recent interview, acclaimed celebrity cake baker and food writer Claire Ptak talks about modern motherhood, bringing up girls, and how fostering their confidence is so important.
This season, Childrensalon is featuring Claire’s guest edit of empowering and playful clothes and will donate 10% of sales from the edit to GFS.
Why Claire chooses to support GFS
As a successful businessperson and a mother with a seven-year-old daughter, Claire knows first-hand how important confidence is for girls.
“I love that GFS is working with younger girls to reinforce their confidence before they start questioning their worth and value in society. Having a daughter brings back so many memories … it can be really challenging for girls growing up. Social media and this fast-paced world have only exacerbated it. Helping foster girls’ confidence and self-esteem is more important than ever and I am delighted to be able to be able to work with Childrensalon to support GFS’s work.” – Claire Ptak, Founder and CEO at Violet Cakes

Childrensalon donates 10% of Family Portrait collaborations to charity
“When Claire approached us about supporting GFS we knew it would be a perfect fit; we’re so pleased to be able to use our spring Family Portrait to accelerate positive impacts for girls across the UK.” – Dana Artz, Head of CSR at Childrensalon
Started over 70 years ago, Childrensalon is a family-owned business in Kent. Today, it also happens to be the world’s largest online destination for quality childrenswear. As part of a regular series of “Family Portrait” interviews, Childrensalon shares family stories and wardrobe inspiration from guest collaborators around the world. Each interview donates 10% of related sales to charity.
“Giving back to programmes that protect children and their access to healthy childhoods is a big part of our ethos and the work we do through our Childrensalon Foundation.”
– Dana Artz, Head of CSR at Childrensalon
Each featured Family Portrait guest is invited to select a special charity to support through their collaboration. Childrensalon confirms each cause by looking at things like the charity’s mission and their transparency around spending and programme impacts. As well, they check that each programme aims to respect the culture and beliefs of the kids and families served.
