Celebrating body confidence – the artwork of our young GFS women.

During October, the young women of GFS Great Yarmouth showcased their artwork in a week-long exhibition.

The project started out life as GFS and Mind’s art and craft group CREATE. The young women took casts of a mannequin using ModRoc (plaster bandages) and they spent time decorating and personalising them to reflect their thoughts and feelings about the female form.

Some decorated their casts in an elaborate manner, some celebrated their female features and others chose to make a statement. The results were fantastic!

Our young women felt that typical mannequin that you see in a clothes shop are not a realistic representation of the female body. This led to two of our young women deciding to make casts of their own bodies. We hope that this inspires others to step outside their comfort zone and celebrate their body.

Our GFS Great Yarmouth and GFS Skegness Projects closed in 2018. Read the statement made by our Chair regarding the closures.
