Something that is really important to us is that we work hard to make the GFS experience fulfilling and worthwhile, not only for the girls who attend our groups, but for everyone who is involved with them.
So when our work is recognised, it really means a lot to us. This week, we’re thrilled to share that we have been recognised as providing outstanding experiences, both for girls and volunteers. In the north east, we have been awarded the County Durham Volunteering Kite Mark, and in the Midlands we have been recognised as a gold standard organisation by the Shropshire Youth Association. Both awards reflect the commitment of staff and volunteers in the local area and we are proud to shout about them.
County Durham Volunteering Kite Mark
The Volunteering Kite Mark is awarded by Durham Community Action to verify that an organisation manages a volunteering programme where volunteers receive a high quality, positive volunteering experience. Being accredited by tells women all over county Durham, that volunteering with GFS is, not only rewarding, but manageable, well supported and equips them with skills to benefit their future.

Shropshire Youth Association Gold Award
GFS Market Drayton has been awarded a gold standard by the Shropshire Youth Association. The SYA exists to support youth groups in Shropshire, not only to deliver their services to the local community, but also to encourage high quality provisions that have an impact. In order to have been classed as a gold standard group, GFS Market Drayton had to demonstrate (amongst other things!) that the girls who attend do positive work in the community, that the volunteers hold high level youth work qualifications and girls are involved in creating the programme of activities that are delivered.
We are very pleased that the hard work of the volunteers at GFS Market Drayton is being recognised, not only within GFS, but by our peers in the field. The gold award is a sign for all parents of girls and young women that GFS Market Drayton is, not only a fun group for their girls to attend, but one that will have a positive impact on their childhoods.
