Skin-care is self-care

Girls Friendly Society is always looking for ways to empower girls and young women to live a healthy lifestyle and encourage self-confidence. That’s why we were over the moon to hear about the overwhelming response from the local community in Great Yarmouth who were able to donate skin-care products to our young women at GFS Great Yarmouth Project.

The group embraced a skin-care routine to see how cleansing, toning and moisturising can make a huge difference to their personal hygiene and self-esteem.
It can be easy to forget just how much oil and pollution affects everyone’s skin throughout their lifetime – not just during adolescence. The skills that more than forty young women in Great Yarmouth gained through this skin-care programme are ones they can keep for life. From the sounds of things, the group really took the programme on board and GFS would like to thank everyone who donated products for them to try.

“It’s wonderful to see their confidence grow, and the feedback has been tremendous – some girls have reported a disappearance of acne” says Jayne Billman, Support and Development Worker for GFS Great Yarmouth Project.

Thanks to the generosity of the local community, the young women were thrilled to have each received a goody bag packed full of health and beauty products at the end.

Our GFS Great Yarmouth and GFS Skegness Projects closed in 2018. Read the statement made by our Chair regarding the closures.
