Girls Friendly Society’s new Hackney-based branch, launching on Wednesday 8th March, offers opportunities for girls aged 5-11 to meet new friends and take part in fun activities.

Led by volunteer Caira Burke, Girls Friendly Society is hosting a launch event for the new Hackney Branch on Wednesday 8th March at Redmond Community Centre in Manor House.

Weekly sessions

Sessions, which will take place every Wednesday from 15th March, are carried out in a safe, single-gender space and are led by trained and rigorously checked GFS volunteers.

Activities include crafts, cooking, music, games and trips, and are designed to help girls develop in their confidence, resilience and well-being. Girls are also encouraged to learn new skills and support one another in a non-judgmental environment.

Find out more at the launch event on Wednesday 8th March – open to all

A week before sessions officially start, everyone is welcome to attend the group’s launch event on Wednesday 8th March, 4-8pm at Redmond Community Centre. Here you’ll be able to meet our volunteers and staff, sample some of the activities, find out more information and decide if your daughter (or a girl you know) would like to come along for future sessions.

As part of the free to attend International Women’s Day celebrations at Redmond Community Centre, there will be arts and crafts workshops, the chance to make your own natural cosmetics and a film screening (age appropriate). Light refreshments will be provided too.
