GFS is pleased to mark International Day of the Girl 2022 by announcing a new partnership with leading global re/insurance group, Enstar to provide opportunities for girls in the London Borough of Hackney. With Enstar’s support, GFS will open a second group in the London Borough of Hackney, and its fourth in North East London.

Through our new partnership with Enstar, we aim to further raise girls’ confidence and ambitions, supporting girls from an early age, to improve their long-term outcomes. Enstar’s support will give girls the opportunity to visit corporate offices (a first for many, despite growing up in the shadow of the City), to learn more about money management, and much more.

Enstar’s Group Chief Risk Officer, Seema Thaper, said:

“Our partnership with GFS supports the development of young people from diverse backgrounds by giving them a space to learn, grow, and have fun. We are passionate about giving back to our local communities, and are looking forward to getting to know GFS and the girls they work with, supporting their progress and introducing them to positive female role models from the business community.”

The need for these groups has become particularly notable in the context of the current Cost of Living Crisis. GFS CEO, Laura Sercombe, said:

“With bills going up, many parents will be looking to make cuts, and expensive after school activities such as swimming or drama classes may have to go. This support for Enstar will allow us to continue to make our groups accessible to the girls who need them the most.”

GFS groups are low cost (only £2 per week) and there are no upfront payments, meaning parents can spread the cost, and pay only for the sessions their child attends. Through the help of partners like Enstar, GFS is committed to offering a full fee waiver to any child that needs it, to ensure that every girl can access the group, regardless of her financial situation.

Our second Hackney group, supported by Enstar, hopes to launch in January 2023 – find out more about volunteering with the group here.
