Be part of a world record, and something unforgettable.
This summer, we’re doing something big.
To mark 150 years of GFS, we’re building the world’s longest friendship bracelet, and we want you to be part of it.
Thousands of segments. Braided by hand. Sent in from homes, classrooms, offices and community centres. Each one a simple, joyful act of connection.
Whether you’re five or eighty-five, on your own or part of a group – this is for you.
Participation is open to anyone living in the UK, of any age, gender or background.
How it works
- Order your bracelet pack
- Need materials? Request them when you order your pack and we’ll send you everything you need – thread, instructions, and a return envelope.
- Already have beads or ribbons you want to use or prefer to self-source? No problem! Just select ‘self-source’ when you order your bracelet instruction card.
- Braid your segment
- Do it on your own, with a friend, or in a group. It only takes a few minutes.
- Send it back
- We’ll stitch every segment into one enormous bracelet, and attempt a world record.
Last date to order a bracelet pack from GFS is 14 October 2025.
Return your braid by 31 October 2025.
It’s completely free to take part, but if you’d like to help cover the cost of materials and postage, you can add a donation when you order.

Why it matters
This isn’t just about breaking a record.
It’s about celebrating the power of friendship — the everyday kind that changes everything.
At GFS, we’ve been creating safe spaces where girls can build those friendships for 150 years. And we’re not done yet.
Every braid, knot and loop in this bracelet is a reminder that friendship isn’t a feel-good extra – it’s essential.
What girls say about friendship at GFS
“I’ve made real friends and I feel more confident to be myself.”
– GFS girl, age 12
“It’s helped me grow as a person and feel like I belong.”
– GFS girl, age 14
Celebrate a friend. Support a girl.
Donate in honour of someone who made a difference in your life, and help more girls build the friendships they deserve.

Doing it thoughtfully
We’re proud to run this campaign in a low-waste, low-cost way.
Packs are assembled and posted by hand, using recycled or reusable materials where possible. The bracelet itself will be preserved or re-used as part of our future work, because friendship lasts, and so should the things that symbolise it.
