A race to raise funds for GFS Atherstone minibus

Volunteer Jade Clarke and GFS parent Lynsey Tolley will be taking part in the annual “Atherstone Badgers 10km” on Sunday 28th August to raise money for the GFS Atherstone minibus fund.

The two friends have known each other since they were GFS girls from the age of six. Fronted by leader Sharron Holland, Atherstone is a GFS branch based in North Warwickshire running three sessions a week for girls aged 6-18. Sharron has been running the GFS Atherstone group since the 1970s, with the help of many other dedicated volunteers along the way.

Jade said: “I am lucky enough to be involved with GFS and volunteer my time to them.
The minibus benefits not only the girls that attend Atherstone GFS for trips and access to a range of extra curricular activities, but also the local community of Atherstone – as we hire it out to other community groups.”

The branch had recently succeeded in raising funds to purchase a new mini bus, but they still need extra funds to help keep the minibus running – such as MOTs, servicing, repairs and insurance explained Jade.

“We appreciate any donation may it be little or large. Please come and cheer us on to pass that finishing line in Atherstone Market square and look out for the amazing GFS volunteers that will be at the finishing line volunteering to support this race!”
