GFS Dunvant is a different kind of group for girls. We meet every week to give girls a space where they are valued for who they are. No levels to achieve, no end of term show or assessment – just opportunities to make friends, be heard and try new things.

To make these groups happen, we need volunteers who care about building girls’ confidence and helping realise how amazing they are, no matter what’s going on in their lives. You don’t need youth work experience, or to know everything about empowering girls and young women. All you need is passion and commitment.

It’s important for girls to see themselves reflected in their leaders, so we particularly welcome volunteers who are representative of the communities we work in. GFS volunteer roles are open to anyone who identifies as a woman.

What is it like at GFS Groups?

It’s difficult to capture the energy and joy of a group. Volunteers are encouraged to try new things and build relationships with the girls. And girls relish the opportunity to be heard and have new experiences. Take a look at this video from GFS Hackney to see what we mean..

If you have a specialism and you’d like to volunteer to deliver it at a group one week, we’d love to hear from you.

Being a GFS leader means having the opportunity to give girls and young women to have a place they can call their own. Friendships are formed between girls, their families and the leaders which can last a lifetime. It gives a sense of satisfaction to see girls blossom, and grow in confidence and self-worth.
