2018 Christmas Card Comp

After careful consideration, we’re pleased to announce the winners and runners up for this year’s GFS Christmas Card Competition!

Thank you and well done to everyone who took part. We were so impressed with the sheer number of girls and young women who submitted entries from groups all across England and Wales. The quality of the Christmas cards, and the effort that everyone’s put in to them, has been great and we’ve loved seeing the broad range of designs.

The overall winning design will be printed on the cover of this year’s official GFS Christmas card which will be sent to all our members, volunteers and partners. They will also receive a £30 Amazon voucher and two runners-up will receive a £10 Amazon Voucher each.

As we said, the quality of the designs this year made picking winners and runners-up really tricky so we have also given a special shout-out to some of the other designs that made it to the shortlist.

The winning design

Emily Donkin, age 9, GFS Pilling

This design immediately made us smile – we love that the character is a girl and a lot of thought has clearly been put into her elf costume! We love that she is standing at the centre of the card – looking confident, friendly and happy. The snow, presents and baubles make the card really festive and the bright yellow and green colours make the overall design very unique! Of course, we also love the fact that the GFS badge makes an appearance. Great Job!

Runner-up

Ellie Pinkey, age 14, GFS Swinton

The thought that has gone into the composition of this design is really quite impressive – the tree in the foreground set against Santa and his reindeers in the sky is so magical. The street lamps give it just the right amount of colour and helps to create a lovely picture-perfect white Christmas!

Runner-up

Lisa Carter, age 13, GFS Gloucester

This one must have been fun to create! The illustration of Santa getting stuck down the chimney made us chuckle. The overall design is very bold and the range of colours used for the Christmas lights really pays off – what a wonderful, joyous scene!

Special commendations

We had loads of brilliant entries this year. Although the designs below just missed out on being in the top three, we thought they still deserved some recognition.
